Is it possible to use grid filtering capabilities shown in BCGPGridExample (including filter bar)
in virtual mode and how?

Grid filtering in virtual mode is not supported out of the box in the current version of the library.

I understand that filtering requires some custom implementation, but is it possible to use filter bar GUI elements somehow together with some sort of callbacks like its done for sorting functionality?

This feature (filtering in virtual mode) is not supported out of the box in the current version of the library.
The grid shows all data provided by application in virtual mode. You should apply filter at application side when you provide data for the grid in virtual mode.
